Archaeological Open Air Museum Oerlinghausen

wikingerhaus winter

... we are bringing history to life. Currently, we are having our winter break which lasts until April 1st. But if you are have any questions, we are available under 0049-5202 2220. Please do not hesitate to contact us, whenever you need help. As a registered group you are ecen now welcome. And who knows, maybe you are lucky then and you'll see a lovely wintertime village.

Starting with a sommer camp that shows ice age reindeer hunters and ending with an early medieval farmhouse, the museum is giving you an idea of how ancient life was.
The attentive visitor will find many ancient plants, which have been used and cultivated since thousands of years.  some of them can be found in our small gardens, while others can be be seen along the small path through the museum.
Dedomesticated pigs (Düppeler Weideschweine) and goats are kept in wooden enclosures.
The close relationship of human beeings in those old days to their environment is clearly demonstrated.

You have the chance to experience this ancient way of life by your own by taking part in our versatile program.

To check what's on, have a look at our program or at our eventlist.  A flyer is obtainable in our museum.
